What is an Email Mailing List?
An email mailing list allows you to send a single message to a group of subscribers at once. When you send to the list address, every subscriber receives a copy. This is useful for newsletters, announcements, discussion groups, and team communication.
Mailing Lists in cPanel
cPanel includes Mailman for managing mailing lists. To create one:
- Log into cPanel
- In the Email section, click Mailing Lists
- Enter a list name, select the domain, set a password, and choose whether it is private or public
- Click Add Mailing List
Subscribers can be added manually or allowed to self-subscribe. The list admin can moderate messages, manage subscribers, and configure archive settings through the Mailman web interface.
For Larger Newsletters
If you are sending newsletters to hundreds or thousands of subscribers, we recommend using a dedicated email marketing service like Mailchimp, Sendinblue, or Constant Contact. These services handle deliverability, unsubscribe management, and compliance with anti-spam laws (like CAN-SPAM) much more effectively than a server-based mailing list. Shared hosting email sending limits also make bulk sending impractical from the server.
