What is a email mailing list?

Email & Webmail | Updated 2026

A mailing list lets you send one email to a single address and have it delivered to all subscribers on the list. cPanel includes Mailman for creating and managing mailing lists.

01. Common Uses

  • Team communication - Send updates to all staff via one address
  • Newsletters - Simple subscriber list for periodic updates
  • Customer groups - Targeted messaging to specific customer segments
Better for Large Lists

cPanel's Mailman works for small lists (under 500 subscribers). For larger lists or professional newsletters, use a dedicated service like Mailchimp, SendGrid, or Amazon SES. These handle deliverability, unsubscribes, and compliance automatically. For PHPList setup, see PHPList Throttling.

For general email setup, see Create Email Accounts and Reduce Spam.
