Why is my account suspended?

General | Updated 2026

If your website shows a "This Account Has Been Suspended" page, your hosting account has been temporarily disabled. Here are the most common reasons and how to get your site back online.

01. Common Reasons for Suspension

Unpaid invoice

The most common reason. If an invoice remains unpaid past the due date plus the grace period, the account is automatically suspended. Log into your client area, go to Billing > My Invoices, and pay any outstanding invoices. The account is typically unsuspended automatically within minutes of payment.

Resource limit exceeded

On shared hosting, accounts that consistently exceed CPU, memory, or bandwidth limits may be suspended to protect other users on the server. See Error 508/503 - Resource Limit Reached for more on resource limits.

Terms of service violation

Activities that violate our Terms of Service can result in suspension. This includes sending spam, hosting malicious content, running prohibited software, or using the account for purposes not covered by shared hosting (like running a game server or cryptocurrency mining).

Security compromise

If your account is compromised (hacked) and is being used to send spam, host phishing pages, or distribute malware, we may suspend it to stop the malicious activity. This is done to protect you and other users. See How to Fix a Hacked WordPress Site.

Bandwidth limit reached

If your account reaches its monthly bandwidth allocation, it is suspended until the billing period resets. There are no overage fees. See our FAQ for details on bandwidth policies.

02. How to Get Your Account Unsuspended

  • Unpaid invoice - Pay the outstanding invoice in your client area. Unsuspension is usually automatic within minutes.
  • Resource overuse - Open a support ticket. We can unsuspend the account and help you identify what is consuming excessive resources. You may need to optimize your site or upgrade to a higher plan.
  • TOS violation - Open a support ticket to discuss the issue. Resolution depends on the specific violation.
  • Security compromise - Open a support ticket. We will work with you to clean the account, change passwords, and update vulnerable software before unsuspending.
  • Bandwidth - Wait for your billing cycle to reset, or upgrade to a plan with more bandwidth.

03. How to Prevent Suspension

  1. Keep your billing current - Enable auto-pay in your client area to avoid missed payments
  2. Keep WordPress and plugins updated - Outdated software is the most common entry point for hackers
  3. Monitor resource usage - Check cPanel's resource usage stats periodically
  4. Use strong passwords - For cPanel, email, FTP, and WordPress
  5. Read notification emails - We send warnings before suspending for resource issues
