Outlook error codes 0x800CCC0D and 0x800CCC0E mean the email client cannot find or connect to the mail server. The most common causes are an incorrect server hostname, DNS issues, or a firewall blocking the connection.
Verify your incoming and outgoing server names
Both should be set to mail.yourdomain.com (replace with your actual domain). If you recently changed nameservers or your domain's DNS is not fully propagated, try using the server hostname instead. See your welcome email or cPanel > Server Information for the hostname.
01. What These Errors Mean
- 0x800CCC0D - "Cannot find the email server." Outlook cannot resolve the hostname you entered for the incoming or outgoing server.
- 0x800CCC0E - "Cannot connect to the server." Outlook found the server but cannot establish a connection, usually due to a port or firewall issue.
02. How to Fix
Check server settings
In Outlook, go to File > Account Settings > select your account > Change, and verify:
- Incoming server:
mail.yourdomain.com - Outgoing server:
mail.yourdomain.com - Username: Your full email address (e.g.,
you@yourdomain.com) - Ports: 993 (IMAP SSL) or 995 (POP3 SSL) incoming, 465 (SMTP SSL) outgoing
- Encryption: SSL/TLS
For the complete setup walkthrough, see How to Set Up Email in Microsoft Outlook.
Check for firewall blocks
If you entered incorrect passwords previously, your IP may be blocked. Use the Firewall Unblock tool to check.
Check DNS propagation
If you recently changed nameservers or DNS, mail.yourdomain.com may not be resolving yet. See DNS Changed But Site Not Showing. As a workaround, use the server hostname or IP instead of mail.yourdomain.com until DNS propagates.
Test webmail first
Try logging into webmail at https://yourdomain.com:2096. If webmail works, the server is fine and the issue is in Outlook's settings.

Still Cannot Connect?
If you have verified your settings and are not blocked by the firewall, open a ticket with a screenshot of your Outlook account settings.
