Configuring Microsoft Outlook for Your Hosting Email
This guide covers setting up your Ultra Web Hosting email account in Microsoft Outlook (2016, 2019, 2021, and Microsoft 365).
Outlook for Windows
- Open Outlook and go to File > Add Account
- Enter your full email address and click Advanced options
- Check Let me set up my account manually and click Connect
- Select IMAP
- Enter the incoming and outgoing server settings below
- Enter your password when prompted and click Connect
Outlook for Mac
- Open Outlook and go to Outlook > Preferences > Accounts
- Click the + button and select New Account
- Enter your email address and click Continue
- If Outlook does not auto-detect settings, select IMAP and enter the settings below
Server Settings
- Incoming Server (IMAP): mail.yourdomain.com
- Incoming Port: 993
- Incoming Encryption: SSL/TLS
- Outgoing Server (SMTP): mail.yourdomain.com
- Outgoing Port: 465 (SSL) or 587 (STARTTLS)
- Outgoing Encryption: SSL/TLS or STARTTLS
- Username: Your full email address (user@yourdomain.com)
- Authentication: Normal password, required for both incoming and outgoing
If Port 465 Does Not Work
Some ISPs block certain mail ports. If you cannot send email on port 465, try port 587 with STARTTLS encryption. If that also fails, try port 26 with no encryption as a last resort (some ISPs block both 465 and 587).
Common Issues
- "Certificate does not match" warning: This occurs when SSL uses the server hostname. Click Trust/Continue to accept it, or use the server hostname (from your welcome email) instead of mail.yourdomain.com.
- Password prompt keeps appearing: Verify your password is correct by testing it at webmail (yourdomain.com/webmail). If it works in webmail but not Outlook, recreate the Outlook profile.
- Sending works but receiving does not (or vice versa): Double-check that the correct port and encryption are set for both incoming and outgoing independently.
