How to Set Up Email on Android

Adding Your Hosting Email to an Android Phone or Tablet

You can use either the built-in Email app or the Gmail app on Android to check your hosting email. Both support IMAP, which keeps your email in sync across all devices.

Using the Gmail App

  1. Open the Gmail app
  2. Tap your profile icon in the top right, then tap Add another account
  3. Select Other
  4. Enter your full email address and tap Next
  5. Select Personal (IMAP)
  6. Enter your email password and tap Next
  7. For the incoming server, enter mail.yourdomain.com, port 993, security type SSL/TLS
  8. For the outgoing server, enter mail.yourdomain.com, port 465, security type SSL/TLS
  9. Tap Next and configure your sync preferences

Using the Samsung Email App

On Samsung devices, the built-in Email app (separate from Gmail) works the same way. Go to Settings > Accounts > Add Account > Email and follow similar steps. Choose IMAP as the account type and enter the server settings above.

Server Settings Reference

  • Incoming (IMAP): mail.yourdomain.com, Port 993, SSL/TLS
  • Outgoing (SMTP): mail.yourdomain.com, Port 465 (SSL) or 587 (STARTTLS)
  • Username: Your full email address
  • Authentication: Required for both incoming and outgoing

If Android prompts you to accept a security certificate, tap Yes or Trust. This is normal when the server SSL certificate uses the hostname rather than your custom domain name.
