Adding Your Hosting Email to an Android Phone or Tablet
You can use either the built-in Email app or the Gmail app on Android to check your hosting email. Both support IMAP, which keeps your email in sync across all devices.
Using the Gmail App
- Open the Gmail app
- Tap your profile icon in the top right, then tap Add another account
- Select Other
- Enter your full email address and tap Next
- Select Personal (IMAP)
- Enter your email password and tap Next
- For the incoming server, enter
mail.yourdomain.com, port 993, security type SSL/TLS - For the outgoing server, enter
mail.yourdomain.com, port 465, security type SSL/TLS - Tap Next and configure your sync preferences
Using the Samsung Email App
On Samsung devices, the built-in Email app (separate from Gmail) works the same way. Go to Settings > Accounts > Add Account > Email and follow similar steps. Choose IMAP as the account type and enter the server settings above.
Server Settings Reference
- Incoming (IMAP): mail.yourdomain.com, Port 993, SSL/TLS
- Outgoing (SMTP): mail.yourdomain.com, Port 465 (SSL) or 587 (STARTTLS)
- Username: Your full email address
- Authentication: Required for both incoming and outgoing
If Android prompts you to accept a security certificate, tap Yes or Trust. This is normal when the server SSL certificate uses the hostname rather than your custom domain name.
