Yes. All Ultra Web Hosting plans support popular forum, blog, and community software. You can install WordPress, phpBB, MyBB, Discourse (on VPS), and many other applications directly from cPanel using Softaculous, or manually via FTP.
Use Softaculous in cPanel for one-click installs
cPanel includes Softaculous, an auto-installer with 400+ applications. Go to cPanel > Software > Softaculous Apps Installer, browse the categories (Blogs, Forums, CMS, etc.), and click "Install." The entire setup takes about 60 seconds.
01. Blog Software
- WordPress - The most popular blogging and CMS platform. Powers over 40% of websites on the internet. Available via Softaculous one-click install or manual installation. We also offer WordPress Optimized Hosting with performance tuning. See How to Install WordPress.
- Ghost - A modern, minimalist blogging platform focused on publishing. Requires Node.js (available on VPS plans).
- b2evolution - A multi-blog platform with built-in forums and photo galleries. Available in Softaculous.
02. Forum Software
- phpBB - A free, open-source forum package with a large community and extensive customization options. Available via Softaculous.
- MyBB - Another popular free forum system with plugin support and a clean interface. Available via Softaculous.
- bbPress - A forum plugin for WordPress. If you already run WordPress, bbPress adds forum functionality without a separate application.
- Simple Machines Forum (SMF) - Lightweight forum software, good for smaller communities. Available via Softaculous.
- Discourse - A modern, feature-rich forum platform. Requires Docker and more resources, so it is best suited for VPS or dedicated plans.
03. Content Management Systems
If you need more than just a blog or forum, full CMS platforms give you pages, media management, user roles, and extensibility:
- WordPress - The most versatile option. Thousands of plugins for e-commerce, forums, memberships, LMS, and more.
- Joomla - A flexible CMS with strong access control and multilingual support. Available via Softaculous.
- Drupal - A powerful CMS favored by larger organizations and government sites. More complex to set up but highly customizable.
04. How to Install
Via Softaculous (Recommended)
- Log into cPanel
- Go to Software > Softaculous Apps Installer
- Browse or search for the application you want
- Click "Install" and fill in the basic details (domain, directory, admin username/password)
- Click "Install" at the bottom. Your site is ready in about a minute.
Manual Installation
Download the software from its official website, upload it to your public_html directory via FTP, create a database in cPanel, and follow the application's installation wizard in your browser.
If you want to install a blog or forum in a subdirectory (like yourdomain.com/blog or yourdomain.com/forum), specify the directory name during the Softaculous install. Leave the directory field empty to install at your domain root.
