Webmail Access Denied

Email & Webmail | Updated March 2026

Getting "access denied" or a blank page when trying to log into Webmail is almost always caused by a firewall block, wrong credentials, or a browser issue. Webmail itself is rarely down. This guide walks through the causes in order of likelihood so you can get back in quickly.

01. Your IP Is Blocked (Most Common)

Our servers run CSF firewall with Login Failure Daemon (LFD). If 5 failed login attempts happen within 5 minutes from the same IP, that IP gets temporarily blocked. This affects everything: webmail, cPanel, email apps, and sometimes even loading the website.

Symptoms

  • Webmail page times out or shows a connection error
  • Email on all devices stops working simultaneously
  • cPanel won't load either
  • Another device on a different network (e.g., phone on cellular) works fine

Fix

  1. Visit my.ultrawebhosting.com from the blocked connection. The site includes a CSF Unblocker tool
  2. If you can't access that either - switch to cellular data on your phone, log into the client area, and open a support ticket with your blocked IP
  3. Find your IP - search "what is my IP" in Google to see the IP that's blocked
Tip

The most common trigger is an email app (Outlook, phone mail) with a saved wrong password trying to connect every 30 seconds. Fix the password on all your devices before unblocking, or you'll get blocked again within minutes.

02. Wrong Username or Password

If the webmail login page loads but rejects your credentials:

  • Username - must be your full email address (e.g., info@yourdomain.com), not just info and not your cPanel username
  • Password - is the email account password set in cPanel > Email Accounts, not your cPanel login password or your client area password. These are three separate passwords
  • Reset it - log into cPanel > Email Accounts, find the address, and click "Manage" or "Change Password." Set a new password and try Webmail again
Warning

After resetting the email password, update it on every device that uses this email account (phone, desktop, tablet). Any device still using the old password will trigger failed login attempts and get your IP blocked again.

03. Different Ways to Access Webmail

If one access method doesn't work, try another:

  • Via cPanel - log into cPanel > Email Accounts > click "Check Email" next to the address. This bypasses the webmail login page entirely
  • Via server hostname - https://yourserver.ultrawebhosting.com:2096
  • Via your domain - https://yourdomain.com:2096 (requires valid SSL on the domain)
  • Via client area - log into my.ultrawebhosting.com > your hosting service > "Log in to cPanel" > then Email Accounts > Check Email

04. Browser Issues

  • Clear cookies and cache - stale session cookies can cause login loops. Clear your browser's cookies for the webmail domain and try again
  • Try incognito/private mode - rules out browser extensions and cached data
  • Try a different browser - if Chrome doesn't work, try Firefox or Edge
  • JavaScript must be enabled - Roundcube requires JavaScript. If you've disabled it, webmail won't function

05. Account Status

If none of the above fixes it:

  • Check hosting status - log into your client area and verify your hosting service is Active, not Suspended or Terminated. Overdue invoices can result in suspension
  • Email account exists - verify the email account still exists in cPanel > Email Accounts. If someone accidentally deleted it, create it again
  • Disk quota - if your hosting account is completely out of disk space, webmail may not load properly. Check disk usage in cPanel > Disk Usage

Still Locked Out?

If you can't get into Webmail after trying these steps, open a ticket. Include your email address and IP so we can check the firewall logs and mail service status.

Quick Recap: Fix Webmail Access

If you only do 5 things from this guide, do these:

  1. Check if your IP is blocked - visit my.ultrawebhosting.com to unblock
  2. Use your full email address to log in - not just the name before @
  3. Reset the email password in cPanel - not the cPanel password, the email account password
  4. Update the password on all devices - before unblocking, to prevent re-blocking
  5. Try via cPanel - Email Accounts > Check Email bypasses the webmail login
