How to Install WordPress

Installing WordPress on Your Hosting Account

WordPress is the most popular content management system in the world, and installing it on your Ultra Web Hosting account takes just a few clicks.

Method 1: Softaculous One-Click Install (Recommended)

1. Log into your cPanel control panel
2. In the Software section, click Softaculous Apps Installer
3. Find WordPress (it is usually featured on the main page) and click Install
4. Choose your domain from the dropdown
5. Leave the "In Directory" field blank if you want WordPress on your main domain (or enter a folder name like "blog" if you want it at yourdomain.com/blog)
6. Set your site name and description
7. Create an admin username (do not use "admin" for security) and a strong password
8. Enter your email address
9. Click Install

Softaculous will create the database, configure WordPress, and have your site ready in about 30 seconds. You will see a link to your new site and a link to your admin dashboard (yourdomain.com/wp-admin).

Method 2: Manual Installation

If you prefer to install WordPress manually:

1. Download the latest WordPress from wordpress.org
2. In cPanel, create a MySQL database and user under MySQL Databases. Add the user to the database with All Privileges.
3. Upload the WordPress zip file to public_html using File Manager and extract it
4. Visit your domain in a browser and follow the WordPress setup wizard
5. Enter your database name, username, password, and "localhost" as the database host
6. Complete the installation by setting your site title and admin credentials

After Installation

• Install a free SSL certificate if one is not already active (check cPanel > SSL/TLS)
• Update the WordPress URL and Site URL to use https:// under Settings > General
• Set your permalink structure under Settings > Permalinks (we recommend "Post name")
• Keep WordPress, themes, and plugins updated for security
