How Long Before My New Domain Works?
Newly registered domain names are generally accessible almost immediately, but it can take up to 24 hours for the domain to fully propagate across all DNS servers worldwide. During this propagation period, some visitors may be able to reach your site while others cannot, depending on their location and ISP.
What Happens During Propagation
When a new domain is registered, the nameserver information needs to be distributed across thousands of DNS servers around the world. Each of these servers caches DNS data for a period of time, so it takes a while for all of them to pick up the new records. This is completely normal and nothing needs to be done on your end.
Checking Propagation Status
You can check how your domain is resolving across different locations using tools like whatsmydns.net or dnschecker.org. These tools show you whether DNS servers in various parts of the world have picked up your domain records.
While You Wait
Even before your domain has fully propagated, you can start uploading your website files, creating email accounts, and configuring your hosting. All of these changes will be ready and waiting when the domain goes live. You can access your hosting control panel through the server hostname URL provided in your welcome email, which works immediately regardless of DNS propagation.
