How to Remove a Web Disk Account

General | Updated March 2026

Web Disk (WebDAV) is a cPanel feature that lets you manage your website files as if they were a network drive on your computer. If you have Web Disk accounts you no longer need, you can remove them from cPanel. This guide shows how.

01. Remove a Web Disk Account

  1. Log into cPanel
  2. Click "Web Disk" in the Files section
  3. Find the account you want to remove in the list
  4. Click "Delete" next to the account
  5. Confirm the deletion
Note

Deleting a Web Disk account only removes the WebDAV access point. It does not delete the files in the directory that the Web Disk was mapped to. Your website files remain intact.

02. Disconnect From Your Computer

If you previously connected the Web Disk as a network drive on your computer, you should disconnect it after deleting the account:

  • Windows - open File Explorer, right-click the mapped drive, select "Disconnect"
  • Mac - in Finder, click the eject icon next to the network drive in the sidebar

03. Better Alternative: FTP

Web Disk was useful before modern FTP clients became standard, but today FTP with FileZilla or cPanel's File Manager are faster and more reliable ways to manage your files.
