How can I tell how much disk space I have available?

Checking Your Disk Space Usage

You can check your current disk space usage at any time through your cPanel hosting control panel.

Quick Check: cPanel Sidebar

When you log into cPanel, look at the right-hand sidebar under Statistics. You will see your current disk usage displayed as a bar showing how much space you have used out of your total allocation. It also shows your bandwidth usage, email account count, addon domains, and other resource usage.

Detailed Breakdown: Disk Usage Tool

For a detailed breakdown of where your disk space is being used, click the Disk Usage icon in cPanel (under the Files section). This tool shows you a directory-by-directory breakdown so you can identify which folders are consuming the most space. Common space consumers include:

  • Email - Large mailboxes with years of accumulated messages and attachments
  • Backups - Old cPanel backups or plugin-generated backups stored in your account
  • Logs - Error logs that have grown large over time
  • Media files - Images, videos, and downloads in your website directories

Running Low on Space?

If you are approaching your disk limit, start by cleaning up email mailboxes (empty Trash and Sent folders), removing old backups, and checking for large error log files. If you need more space, you can upgrade your hosting plan through your client area or contact support for help identifying what is using the most space.
