Reseller: Unable to find an IP address in when creating an account

General | Updated 2026

The "Unable to find an IP address" error in WHM occurs when trying to create a new cPanel account on a reseller hosting plan. This means the account creation cannot proceed because no shared IP address is available or configured for your reseller account.

Fix

Contact support to assign a shared IP

This is a server-level configuration issue that cannot be fixed from your WHM panel. Open a support ticket and we will verify that a shared IP is assigned to your reseller account and that it is available for new account creation.

01. Common Causes

  • No shared IP assigned - Your reseller account may not have been configured with a shared IP for hosting accounts
  • IP limit reached - If you have a dedicated IP and it has reached its account limit
  • WHM configuration - The "Main Shared IP Address" in WHM > Basic Setup may be blank or incorrect

02. What You Can Check

In WHM, go to Basic Setup (or Basic cPanel/WHM Setup) and verify that the "Main Shared IP Address" field has a valid IP. If it is empty or shows an IP you do not recognize, do not change it yourself. Contact support instead.

Need This Fixed?

Open a ticket with your reseller account username and we will configure the IP assignment.

Quick Recap

  1. Error means no shared IP is available for new accounts
  2. Server-level fix required - Cannot resolve from WHM alone
  3. Check WHM > Basic Setup for Main Shared IP
  4. Contact support to assign or fix the IP configuration
  5. Do not change IP settings yourself without guidance
