Reseller: Unable to find an IP address in when creating an account

Reseller Error: Unable to Find an IP Address When Creating an Account

This error occurs in WHM when creating a new hosting account and the system cannot assign an IP address. There are a couple of common causes.

Shared IP Not Configured

Make sure your reseller account has a shared IP address assigned. In WHM, go to Basic Setup (or Basic WebHost Manager Setup) and verify that the "Main Shared Virtual Host" has a valid IP address selected. If the field is blank, select the server IP from the dropdown and save.

IP Assignment Limits

If you are a reseller creating accounts under a main account, you may be limited to using the shared IP only. Dedicated IP addresses are assigned by the server administrator. If you need a dedicated IP for a specific account, contact our support team to have one allocated.

Account Package Configuration

Check the hosting package you are using to create the account. If the package is configured to require a dedicated IP but none are available, the account creation will fail. Edit the package in WHM > Add a Package and set the IP option to use the shared IP address.
